Access & Information
The Access & Information Division is responsible for the delivery of collections, information and reference services.
The role of the Division is to:
- provide onsite access to collections and reading room facilities
- provide reference and information services, onsite and online
- enhance access to our own and world-wide resources by developing digital access and online content
- contribute significantly to the development and management of the collection
- support and provide a range of educational and promotional programs such as subject-based and general learning programs, exhibitions, publications and participation in external library networks.
Services are available free onsite and by telephone, mail, fax, email and interactive chat through our Ask Us! service.
In recent years, the Access & Information Division has been at the forefront of adopting new services and introducing innovative technologies to meet the changing information needs of the Victorian people. The most recent of these is the Library's online chat service. It aims to provide a fast online response to requests for information on any subject, with particular expertise available to support research about Victoria and Victorians.
