State Library Announces New Board Appointment

The President of the Library Board of Victoria, the Hon John Cain, has announced the appointment of the Hon Sherryl Garbutt to the Library Board of Victoria.
The Library Board of Victoria consists of up to 11 members, appointed by the Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Minister for the Arts. Board members serve in a voluntary capacity, contributing to the Board skills forged in careers as diverse as academia, business, government, information technology, law and the humanities.
Ms Garbutt’s experience in State Government and her dedication to public service will prove invaluable to the Board. A school teacher and parliamentarian (1989-2006), she held the Victorian Government Ministerial portfolios of Environment and Conservation and Women’s Affairs (1999-2002), Community Services (2002-06) and Children (2004-06).
Ms Garbutt has expressed delight at the appointment.
‘The State Library of Victoria is a wonderful knowledge institution with a vital role to play in Victoria. Its motto of Information, Ideas, Inspiration for Everyone is a clear statement of the Library’s intent and purpose. I am very pleased to be joining the Library Board of Victoria as we deliver the slv21 program and shape services for the future,’ she said.
Library Board President, the Hon John Cain, welcomed the new appointment.
‘We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Garbutt to the Library Board of Victoria. Her experience and drive will be of enormous benefit to the Library. Her insight and advice will be invaluable as we chart the Library’s course in supporting Victoria’s growth and development,’ he said.
