Libraries in East Timor - Free Public Lecture

19 May 2008

On Wednesday 21 May, Patti Manolis, CEO of the Geelong Regional Library Corporation, will give a free public lecture entitled ‘Libraries in East Timor: rebuilding a nation’s knowledge’.

Patti will discuss the ongoing challenges faced by libraries in East Timor, as they attempt to rebuild the knowledge and history of a war-town country.

Patti was the recipient of the 2003 Margery C Ramsay Scholarship, which recognises excellence in Victorian public libraries. The scholarship comprised a study tour of libraries in East Timor, to enable her to better understand the needs of the East Timorese in the Maribyrnong community.
