'Openings' - Medieval Conference Public Lecture
15 May 2008
To coincide with its spectacular new exhibition, The Medieval Imagination, the State Library is hosting a three-day conference, entitled Imagination, Books and Community in Medieval Europe.
The keynote address for this conference is a free public lecture entitled ‘Openings’, which will take place from 7-8pm at Storey Hall, RMIT, on Thursday, 29 May. In this lecture, Professor Jeffrey Hamburger from the Sackler Museum, Harvard University, explores how the medieval book lends itself to decoration and illumination, and the possibilities that manuscripts presented over the medieval millennium.
The conference has been enormously popular and is now fully subscribed, but bookings are still available for 'Openings'.
