Last Days to See Famous Portraits

8 November 2007

The Library's temporary exhibition Famous: Karin Catt Portraits closes on Sunday 11 November. If you haven't already seen this popular exhibition, hurry in to see these striking photographic portraits of international celebrities.

New York-based, Australian-born Karin Catt has captured a constellation of stars, including actors Matt Damon, Eric Bana, Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe; musicians Elton John, Lou Reed, AC/DC, Elvis Costello and David Byrne; personalities such as Muhammad Ali and Yoko Ono; and world leaders including George Bush Snr and Mikhail Gorbachev.

The Keith Murdoch Gallery is open 10am-9pm Thursday, and 10am-6pm Friday to Sunday. It is located off the Library's Front Foyer.

If you can't make it in to the exhibition, audio from two of the exhibition events can be heard or downloaded from our website:

  • Playing the Fame Game, with Jill Singer, John-Michael Howson and others provides lively discussion on the cult of celebrity.
  • Strike a Pose! brings together well-known magazine editors and photographers to debate how the glossies shape our views on style, celebrity and aesthetics.
