'The Future Australian Race' Launched
6 May 2008
State Library of Victoria 2003 Creative Fellows Sue Gore and Bill Garner have launched a new play, entitled The Future Australian Race: Redmond Barry vs Marcus Clarke. It runs from 5 May to 24 May at the Library's Queen's Hall.
This play explores the relationship between Sir Redmond Barry – Ned Kelly's hanging judge and founder of the State Library – and Marcus Clarke, journalist and author of For The Term of His Natural Life.
Set within the Library's walls, the play examines two very different men in a crucial period in Melbourne's history.
