Applications open for Creative Fellowships!

4 February 2005

The State Library of Victoria will award up to eight Creative Fellowships in 2005/05 for periods of up to three, six and twelve months. The Fellowships are awarded annually by the State Library on the advice of an independent committee of the Library Board of Victoria.

Research projects can be in any area of the Library’s collections, and are open to Australian residents who may be independent scholars, creative writers, artists, composers or developers of new media across a broad range of disciplines. Successful applicants will receive stipends of $12,500 for three months, $25,000 for six months and $50,000 for twelve months.

‘The Fellowships represent the State Library of Victoria’s strong commitment to original scholarship, writing and creative endeavour and help position the Library as a centre for ideas and public debate,’ said Anne-Marie Schwirtlich, Chief Executive Officer and State Librarian. ‘The chosen Fellows will be working in the Library using our unique collections, sharing their ideas with the public, and producing publications or work based on these collections.’

Applications close Thursday, 31 March 2005. The Fellowship recipients will be announced during the Library’s Foundation Week, early in July.

For more information about the Fellowships, guidelines and application form see the Research Programs pages.
