FROM THE INFORMATION DESK
HANDY HINTS FOR ACCESSING THE LIBRARY’S RECORDED SOUND COLLECTIONS
Over many years the Arts Library has built up a substantial (and growing) collection of recordings covering a wide range of music, as well as spoken word material such as plays, book readings and speeches. Whilst some of this is available for immediate listening on the 8 listening-posts located in the Arts reading room, the bulk of this collection can be accessed using the Library catalogue.
You can search under a composer’s or performer’s name, the title of a particular work or album or use a keyword search in conjunction with search limiters such as ‘musical recording’, ‘compact disc’ or ‘sound recording’. Once ordered, the recording is delivered to the Arts information desk and we can direct it to one of our many reading tables equipped with audio facilities.
For more information about the Library's recorded sound collection see: http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/collections/arts/soundvideo.html

It offers visitors a unique insight into the way books have shaped the way we think about the world and ourselves over the centuries.

WHAT’S NEW?
EXPERIENCE PETER LYSSIOTIS' ARTIST BOOK ONLINE Turn the pages of Peter Lyssiotis' beautiful book, A Gardener at Midnight: Travels in the Holy Land. This exhibition, Lost & Found, is currently showing at the Library.
