INTERNET ACCESS IN THE LIBRARY The Library offers free internet access to all visitors - you don't have to register as a Library user, book or pay. You can use internet PCs for up to 15 minutes in the Information Centre, and up to 60 minutes in the Redmond Barry Reading Room. If all PCs are in use, there is a place in each room where you can queue to wait your turn.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
USER SURVEY COMPETITION DRAWN Thank you to those who participated in the Library's recent online User Research Survey, and congratulations to Maureen O'Loughlan, of Mortlake, who won a $200 Coles Myer gift card for taking part. The survey ran from 22 April to 5 May this year, and provided some valuable information about how people use the Library's websites. This information will enable us to improve our online services.
DISCOVER HOW NED KELLY'S ARMOUR WAS MADE Curious about Ned Kelly's famous suit of armour? Discover the secrets of its creation, along with background on the fateful Glenrowan seige, in this unique video. The presentation provides a virtual reconstruction of Kelly's original armour, which currently features in the Library's 'The changing face of Victoria' exhibition.

FELLOWSHIP RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED On 6 June, the Library announced the recipients of its prestigious suite of Fellowships, worth a total of $185,000. Among the recipients was well-known children's author Morris Gleitzman, who received an Honorary Creative Fellowship. The Fellowships support Australian writers, composers, artists, academics and researchers in their creative and intellectual endeavours.

COMING EVENTS
'SPORT AND WAR' EXHIBITION - OPENING SOON The Australian War Memorial's travelling exhibition 'Sport and War' will be visiting the Library from 11 July to 26 October. This inspiring exhibition takes a close look at what it means to be Australian by exploring the relationship between sport and war - two key elements of our nation's social and cultural identity. The exhibition will be complemented by a range of talks, tours and activities for all the family.

2008 REDMOND BARRY LECTURE This landmark event in the Library's calendar will take place on 30 July, and will feature the Hon Lindsay Tanner MP, author of 'Open Australia'. He will reflect on how information and content creation could affect Australia in the future.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY FUN TIMES These June-July holidays the Library has some great activities for the whole family. Kids can recreate Ned Kelly's helmet, make a digital storybook, create their own 'Very Hungry Caterpillar' and more. There is also a variety of exhibition talks and tours for mum and dad.

BEDSIDE BOOKS CLUB RETURNS IN JULY After the success of its inaugural event, the Bedside Books Club will meet again on 8 July for more good wine, company and book-related discussion. FLASHPOINT: NEW WRITING FOR THEATRE On 23 July, hear readings of the winning scripts from the RE Ross Trust Playwrights' Script Development Awards at the Library. Readings from three scripts will be followed by Q&A with the playwrights and artists.

HISTORY COUNCIL OF VICTORIA SEMINAR On 24 July, Michelle Rayner from ABC Radio National will visit the Library. Michelle produces oral-history radio programs, and will discuss how the recent increase in digital and online storytelling impacts on her work. LA TROBE JOURNAL NO. 81 AUTUMN 2008 The 81st issue of 'The La Trobe Journal' focuses on all things 'medieval', to coincide with the State Library of Victoria's recent exhibition, 'The Medieval Imagination'. It includes an extended version of Professor David McKitterick's 2008 Foxcroft Lecture, and Ian Cox's recollections of rebinding 15th-century medieval manuscripts.
