They are here to welcome you to the Library and help you find your way to the person, services or exhibitions you want to see. The team offers the same service to people who 'visit' by phone. They also help interstate and international visitors find their way to tourist destinations in Melbourne, and operate the Library's retail service. Whether you want to see Ned Kelly's armour, access the Library's free wireless internet service or buy an exhibition catalogue, our Foyer customer service officers are happy to help. Look out for them next time you visit - they're dressed in red!

MEETING SPECIAL NEEDS The Library wants to ensure that its services and resources are available to all Victorians. Jan Brennan, Customer Services Librarian, has a particular responsibility for ensuring that people disadvantaged by a disability or cultural difference can access Library services and collections. She can be contacted if you have inquiries about services to people with special needs, or about the adaptive technologies available. Call 03 8664 7005, or email jbrennan@slv.vic.gov.au.
CHAT WITH A VICTORIAN LIBRARIAN The Library's new, dedicated Victorian chat service is now open to answer your questions from 1 to 5pm Monday-Friday. Our expert librarians are available via this real-time, web-based chat service to provide you with recommended resources and research advice, particularly about all things Victorian.

CONTRIBUTE
CAN YOU IDENTIFY THIS UNKNOWN OBJECT? Our 'Your Treasures' website has a challenge for you - if you think you know a little about table decoration, or brass objects, perhaps you can identify an unknown item that has been posted to the site. It is a 17cm-high brass stand that its contributor thinks could have something to do with a table setting - or maybe not! It is being catalogued at a regional museum, so if you can help with any information they, and we, would be most grateful for your help.

ONLINE SHOP SPOTLIGHT
VOYAGES TO THE SOUTH SEAS This month's shop spotlight goes to Dr Danielle Clode's 'Voyages to the South Seas: In Search of Terres Australes'. This was the winner of the 2007 Nettie Palmer Prize for Non-Fiction, a category of the Premier's Literary Awards. The Awards judges praised the book, noting that it 'utilises the creative and intellectual skills of the writer to tell the little-known story of the French exploration of the Pacific landscape during the late 18th and early decades of the 19th century'.
