CATALOGUE UPGRADE Our online catalogue will be upgraded in early February. While this takes place you will be able to use the catalogue to find books but you will need to use paper call slips to order books from onsite storage.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALLING LIBRARY FELLOWSHIP APPLICANTS The Library offers a range of research fellowships. They cover a variety of disciplines and offer financial and other support to explore and use the Library's collections. The current call for applications applies to the Creative Fellowships, the Redmond Barry 1854 Fellowship and two new awards, the La Trobe Society Fellowship and the Georges Mora Foundation Fellowship.
Guidelines, application forms and further information can be found on our website from 1 February. An information session for prospective applicants will be held on 26 February.

PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOLS The Library provides a year-round program of events, tours and workshops for students and teachers across seven major learning streams, based on the Library’s impressive collections, spaces and exhibitions. The 2007 Education Program will be available on the Library website from 1 February. To make things even easier, bookings can now be made via an online form on our website.

CYL 2007 PROGRAM The Centre for Youth Literature's 2007 program of events for young people and literacy professionals will be available on our website from 1 February. It includes Booktalkers, Bookgigs, writing and illustrating workshops, regional programs and special events.

READING MATTERS The Centre for Youth Literature's biennial professional development event takes place from 24 to 26 May. It features an outstanding roster of local and international writers, a youth day and two days of lively sessions for literacy professionals. The full program will be available on the Library website from 1 February. Book early, as the 2005 event was a sell-out.

COMING EVENTS
FOXCROFT LECTURE This free annual lecture honours the work of AB Foxcroft, who made significant contributions to the Library and the field of bibliography. This year's lecture, on 22 February, features Professor TH Howard-Hill. He will speak about his forthcoming three-volume bibliography, 'Bibliography as Memory: The British book trade, 1475-1890'.

WRITERS AT COMO This three-day literary event is a unique chance to hear local and international authors in the beautiful surrounds of historic Como House. The Books as Objects of Desire session features senior Library staff members and the author of 'Botanical Riches', published by Miegunyah Press and the Library.

AN EVENING WITH TERRY PRATCHETT Meet one of the world’s most popular and funniest authors at this special event on 12 February. You'll be introduced to Discworld, Terry Pratchett’s strange and satirical comic fantasy universe, featuring in over 40 popular books which have been adapted for television, radio, comics, film and computer games.

READING VICTORIA If you haven't discovered our summer reading program, now is the time to get started. Discover books that take you on a Victorian journey in Reading Victoria: 20 Novels Set Close to Home.
Read and discuss the shortlist of recommended books, then vote for your favourite! Attend free author events at public libraries, visit the website to read celebrity reviews and contribute to our blog. The top five novels will be announced at the closing celebration on 22 February.
