FROM THE INFORMATION DESK

DO YOU HAVE A REFERENCE INQUIRY? ASKNOW!
Have you ever wanted to find out more about cane toads? The population of Ballarat in the 1800s? Whether skateboarding is popular in Germany? If you have access to the internet, you can contact AskNow! to have your reference inquiries answered. Over 100,000 people have – including those who asked the above questions.

AskNow! is a live reference service run on chat software. Librarians search library catalogues, online databases and the internet to answer brief factual questions or resolve more complex information needs. In addition to a record of your real-time chat you receive a list of files or web links found.

The service is available Monday to Friday 9am-7pm, Australian Eastern Standard Time.

It can be reached from the AskNow! website and the websites of all participating libraries, including the State Library of Victoria, and some schools and tertiary institutions.
