Etchings and artist's book: Poetics of ephemera

Glen's studio-based research project will explore the Library's archives of ephemera resources, which often remain within a fractious state of existence, seemingly disconnected to any 'bigger picture' historical context.

Such resources would include letters, postcards, family photos, diaries and materials that exist within the margins of the more historically significant narratives.

The anticipated creative outcomes would include a series of copper-plate etchings with collage elements that will be hand-bound into a book by the artist.

Glen Skien has over 25 years' experience in the arts industry, during which he has worked as an exhibiting artist, been a member of the exhibitions team with Artspace Mackay, and facilitated workshops for secondary school children, university students and a range of community groups.

Glen has exhibited widely and his work is held in both private and public collections throughout Australia and Japan. He holds a position of instructor/lecturer with the printmaking and drawing studios at Griffith University Queensland College of Art.
